Is this how one performs an SEO Campaign?
Newbie here.
I’m using this tool that tells me the Global Monthly Search Volume for keyword phrases relating to my niche.
I’m taking the higher volume searches and injecting them into my web page content a few fold here and there.
Is this the right path? Or should I be focusing on the keywords that perform so-so, considering the high volume search phrases may be in tight competition?

My niche isn’t as crowded as others and my website will have many things my competitors do not offer.
With that said, go on.
Many gurus are emphasizing the need to find a niche in order to appear near the first page of search results, I don’t know how competitive your area is, but of you are targeting keywords with million+ searches, the odds of making page 2 are dismal, better to narrow your focus and consolidate your content to emphasize attainable keywords, better to be a big fish in a small pond than a goldfish in an ocean.
Search engines are getting better at identifying the context of keywords and the associated text, if you just stay on topic in your regular articles additions, your ranking will improve.
